Matts Hack TV
Software that allows you to use your AV Power Macintosh to convert, in real time, between different world video standards.
GEDx
Software to extract data from a GEDCOM (genealogy software) file format and create a tab-delimited ASCII text file. The resulting file maintains the parent and child information by ID number so that family members can be readily located in the file. The primary purpose of this software is to create a format that can be used with a database engine (such as the free-for-non-commercial use mySQL). Databases are significantly faster than plain text files, especially when you're dealing with more than a few hundred names.
Freeware
Note that most or all of the software below was written by others. I have only compiled it and am providing the binary and/or source code (with my changes). No warranties nor guarantees are provided.
Java Wrapper for OpenSSL
This free wrapper allows you to access the OpenSSL libraries from Java. See the separate page for the details and for specific instructions on how to make work with Mac OS X Server.
GNU Multiprecision Library (GNU MP)
Available now for Macintosh (Libraries only) (104 KB) and some day for SGI IRIX 6.2
You can also download the complete Project file to make the GNU MP library on the Macintosh (1,013 KB), if you wish. Better still is this file (158KB), compiled by Doug Currie (e@flavors.com) which contains optimized versions of just the Macintosh-specific files for compiling the gmp-2.0.2 source code. You will need to get the gmp-2.0.2 source code for use with Dougs files. The library allows you to more easily work with large numbers. Especially useful for anyone who tinkers in factoring large integer numbers or breaking the RSA code, which is based on the factor of two large primes. Original GNU MP code is available at the GNU site: http://www.gnu.org.
With the GNU MP Library download (the 104KB file), I have also included the compiled format of the Integer class written by Paul Herman. See Paul's web page on integer factorization for techniques and sample code. http://www.frenchfries.net/paul/factoring/. Documentation for the GNU Multiprecision library can be found at http://www.ontko.com/~rayo/gmp/gmp_toc.html
IRIT 7.0 (tardist.gz)(3,640 KB)
Available for SGI IRIX 6.2, as an N32 binary. Original source code is available at the author's web site: http://www.cs.technion.ac.il/~irit/. This is a solid modeler, with a C-like, command-line interface.
Macintosh port of Burkhard Kirste's Charconv. (44 KB)
BETA VERSION. Originally for Unix. This software converts between the different ASCII character sets, such as ISO Latin, Macintosh, and Windows. Useful if you have text that contains characters from the extended ASCII set (accented characters, for example), and want them to display properly on another computer. I use it to convert Macintosh text to ISO Latin, which is the common denominator for web browsers. This beta version only converts from the Macintosh to ISO Latin, and creates and output file named outfile.txt. This software is freeware. No fixed date for completion, but demand will help determine this project's priority. The original Charconv page is at http://www.chemie.fu-berlin.de/chemnet/use/charconv.html
